Snape's Office

Daphne: "...I supposed so..."

Snape: "Naturally, there are punishments for law breakers."

(And who's the Death Eater here Snape? You KILLED Dumbledore!)

Astoria: I bit my lip, waiting anxiously. I hoped Daphne wouldn't be the only one to get in trouble.

Daphne: "Yes, I know." I looked back down.

Snape: "And none of you have a clean slate. You were all in that corridor."

Daphne: I just about facepalmed. All for nothing of course.

Pansy: Damn it.

Snape: "But the question is what we should do with you."

Daphne: "I guess so..." I whispered mostly to myself.

Pansy: I watched Daphne carefully.

Snape: "And that decision is no longer in my jurisdiction."

Daphne: My eyes opened a little wider at that. Damn. Really not good.

Pansy: He wouldn't put her through something like that... I mean he is a teacher!

Snape: I nodded at their reactions. "Then again, Flich has been wanting to hang students from the ceiling for quite some time now."

Daphne: Okay, think fast. I tried to remember my exits. This guy was going to feed me to the dogs.

Astoria: I tried to keep my facial expression impassive. He had to be bluffing didn't he? He...he wouldn't do something that cruel, and that illegal, would he? "But Professor, I feel the need to point out that what you're proposing is also illegal. Would it really be a good idea to input the idea into our very impressionable minds that retaliating to rule breaking with illegal practices is acceptable?" I asked, sounding much more brave than I felt.

Snape: "Some things that may be illegal for you, are seen as appropriate...under certain circumstances."

Astoria: "Like murder, yes. But not being in our Common Room? It's hardly something that serious,"

Snape: "It was directly disobeying what you were told to do. What was told to you was not a suggestion Miss. Greengrass."

Astoria: "Maybe it wasn't, but maybe you should realize we're just kids! You expect us to sit in a dungeon for hours on end? We tend to get restless, which leads to this," I said, frustrated. This wasn't at all fair! "Obviously you were never sent to your room as a child or anything, because you would know how hard it is to stay there if you had,"

Snape: "What I did as a child is irrelevant to this conversation Miss. Greengrass. All of the other students from your common room seem to be able to stay where they are. And you do sleep there for hours on end. Frankly, I don't see the issue, nor do I care for your excuses."

Daphne: I thanked Astoria so much for slowing our situation. I was still accessing our escape plan. Door? It could be possible that there was a teacher in the halls with a right mind to help us... It was more likely that there was someone who would blow our heads of without out a second thought. Window? We didn't have our brooms with us and it would take too long to summon them and get behind Snape to jump out. There was only one window after all. Eh... we were going to get our heads blown off anyway. What was the difference? Now I needed to communicate my plan. Well this will be amusing. I glanced at Pansy and Astoria.

Pansy: Daphne seemed like she was thinking quite seriously. She made eye contact with me and I wondered what she was up to.

Astoria: I glanced at Daphne from the corner of my eye. She had a determined look on her face, I knew she was up to something. I needed to keep Professor Snape busy a bit longer, just in case. "Being asleep is one thing, but when we're awake, forced to be in the cold, boring dungeons for hours is a completely different story. Apparently the others are cowards, though. They leave the courage to the Gryffindors, deep down most people in our House are afraid of their own shadow, if it comes down to it. So, just because we have more guts than most of them should say something,"

Snape: "You are correct. It says that you are ignorant and deserve punishment."

Astoria: "No. It says that people can go beyond the stereotypes they're given," I stated, completely improvising now.

Snape: "None of the students at Hogwarts are expected to act a certain way, or be stereotyped in the way that you are describing Miss. Greengrass."

Astoria: "But that's what the entire act of Sorting does! It stereotypes us all! Like.... like everyone thinks Gryffindors are Saints and that Slytherins are evil," I stated.

Snape: "I assure you that I have nothing to do with the Sorting Hat and what it does or does not say. It does have a mind of its own, you know."
